What is Peer Pressure?

Before jumping into the workshop, participants shared and formulated their own definition of peer pressure in break out rooms of four. After 10 minutes, all participants gathered to learn about the official definition of peer pressure and its impact on young students. 

Spotting Peer Pressure

Participants were then led into an interactive activity of recognizing peer pressure. Four different interpersonal scenarios (both positive and negative examples) were displayed on the screen, and participants worked together to identify the situation where one individual was being influenced by peer pressure. 

Reacting to Peer Pressure

Finally, participants were led into a time of facilitated breakout room discussion with our trained volunteers in each room. They were asked how they would respond to situations where they were experiencing peer pressure or saw someone else being peer pressured. Volunteers then suggested some methods of reacting to peer pressure. Participants were asked to evaluate pros/cons of each scenario and put each solution into context.
